Focus on 4 strategic pillars:
Through actions focused on innovation and R&D of technological solutions, it promotes the growth of the Microelectronics sector in Portugal.
to strengthen the production and innovation capacity of the national semiconductor and microelectronics industry.
The microelectronics sector has faced difficulties in accessing and making components and systems available at European level, whether due to the impact of geopolitical tensions, scarcity of resources or the breakdown of distribution and production chains caused by the pandemic, which has highlighted the dominance of the Asian market, and the need for Europe to have greater autonomy in this sector, which is so influential and structural for the digital transition.
The Microelectronics Agenda was conceived with an integrated approach and in close proximity to European initiatives IPCEI on Microelectronicse EU Chips Act aims to unlock the potential of the semiconductor industry and bring added value to European society and the economy. The Agenda is the first step in the national response to Europe’s need to overcome its systemic failures in the sector, through structural investments to strengthen productive capacity, innovation, training and the production of relevant information in the national semiconductor industry.
The Microelectronics Agenda involves a group of 17 partners and seeks to position Portugal at the forefront of the semiconductor management, production, distribution and recycling market, capable of supplying Europe and other countries on a global scale.
