The first of ten Thematic Workshops organised by Inova-Ria – Association of Companies for an Innovation Network in Aveiro – took place yesterday.

The event, ‘Regional Strategies and New Skills in the Microelectronics Sector’, featured two strategic panels, the first dedicated to presenting the Role of Regions and Public Policies in Promoting Competitiveness in the Semiconductor Sector in Europe and the second, which debated the theme ‘Talent Challenges for Promoting Competitiveness in the Semiconductor Value Chain Sector’.

Speakers and experts included Ricardo Simoes (Northern Regional Coordination and Development Commission), Eduardo Anselmo de Castro (Centre Regional Coordination and Development Commission, I.P.), John Blake (MIDAS Ireland) and Teresa Martins (Neadvance), Sandra Carvalho (University of Coimbra) and Paulo Monteiro (University of Aveiro).

The first panel was moderated by Diogo Vaz (PICadvanced and Member of the Microelectronics Agenda Advisory Board) and the second by Alcino Lavrador (Chairman of the Microelectronics Agenda Advisory Board) – Micro.electronics: for a better future.

These themed workshops seek to transfer knowledge to all professionals in the sector, and are promoted within the framework of the Microelectronics Agenda.
