On November 2, aicep Portugal Global signed a Memorandum of Understanding with SK hynix, a company belonging to the South Korean multinational group SK, with a view to developing a significant investment project in the semiconductor area in Portugal in 2024.
The South Korean SK group is the world’s third largest producer of semiconductors, which are used in a wide variety of everyday products, such as cars, smartphones, televisions and computers.
The signing took place on the sidelines of a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence and follows the Prime Minister’s official visit to South Korea in April.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by AICEP’s Executive Director for Investment, João Noronha Leal, and SK hynix’s Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Seon Yong Cha, in the presence of Prime Minister António Costa, the Minister for the Economy and the Sea, António Costa Silva, and the Minister for Science, Technology and Higher Education, Elvira Fortunato.
