The third edition of the Microelectronics Agenda Conference took place on October 7, 2025, at the Teatro Aveirense, in Aveiro, as part of the Aveiro Tech Week, one of the largest technology events promoted by the Aveiro City Council.
The event brought together over 100 participants, including researchers, public and private decision-makers, entrepreneurs, and students, with the goal of presenting the results of the Microelectronics Agenda, sharing best collaborative practices, and debating Portugal’s role in the European semiconductor value chain.
Conference Highlights
The opening session featured remarks from notable figures such as Nuno Gonçalves (Vice-President of IAPMEI), Carlos Alves (member of the Agenda’s Strategic Committee), and João Machado (Aveiro City Council).
Key speakers included António Barny (R&D Senior Manager at Amkor Portugal), Francisco Rodrigues (CEO of PICadvanced), Susana Freitas (Executive Board Member of INESC-MN), Sérgio Coelho (CEO of HFA), Arnaldo Oliveira (Associate Professor at the Department of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics (DETI), Senior Researcher at IT), Helena Nadais (Assistant Professor at the Department of Environment and Planning – DAO, University of Aveiro), and João Lourenço (R&D Engineer in Robotics and Automation at ISR).
The event was moderated by Dr. Alexandra Viela, President of COMPETE 2030, who led the Q&A session, encouraging dialogue on future perspectives and potential paths forward.

The conference served as a moment of reflection and celebration of the collaborative work carried out under the Agenda, with an emphasis on quantifying and showcasing the impacts achieved among partners, companies, and R&D institutions involved.
