Lecture of Interest for the Semiconductor and Microelectronics Sector

Introduction to Ansys Lumerical: Applications in Photonics and Electromagnetic Simulation

Date: April 22, 2026
Time: 16:00 – 17:30
Location: Auditorium of the Department of Physics, University of Aveiro (13.1.19)

Integrated into the Semiconductor and Technologies Lecture Series, this session will feature Eng. João Noronha (ESSS, Ansys/Synopsys Inc) and aims to provide a practical introduction to simulation tools used in the development of photonic devices and electromagnetic systems.

In a context where computational modeling plays a central role in research and technological innovation, the session will explore the main functionalities of Ansys Lumerical, with a focus on applications such as integrated photonics, optical sensors, and high-precision electromagnetic analysis.

This initiative is aimed at students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of engineering, physics, photonics, and telecommunications, as well as anyone interested in advanced simulation tools applied to current technological challenges.

Participation is free and open to the community, with no prior registration required.

This lecture is promoted by the Department of Physics of the University of Aveiro, in partnership with the University of Aveiro, Inova-Ria, CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, i3N Aveiro, and POEMS – Portuguese Competence Centre in Semiconductors.
