The Microelectronics Agenda, Portugal’s strategic initiative to position the country as a leader in semiconductor innovation and related technologies, will be present at ECTC 2025 – Electronic Components and Technology Conference, taking place from May 27 to 30 in Dallas, Texas, USA.
The Microelectronics Agenda stand, represented by AIDA CCI, will showcase advanced technological solutions developed within the scope of the project, featuring outstanding contributions from PICAdvanced, INL, Exatronic, and INESC MN.
PICAdvanced will present its advanced optical transceiver solutions, developed using photonic integrated circuits (PIC), supporting data transmission speeds of up to 10Gbps.
INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory will showcase successful results in the manufacturing of advanced packaging technologies with passivation, leveraging its own cleanroom facilities.
Exatronic will bring several of its developed products to the event, including a communication electronic board, a touchless control interface, and a voltage converter — all designed as modules for integration into multiple applications.
INESC MN will display the wafer produced in its facilities, capable of receiving photonic chips of different thicknesses as well as optical fibers, enabled by nanostructures specifically designed for this purpose.
Participation in this leading international event — which annually brings together the world’s top players in electronic packaging, microfabrication, and systems integration — represents a key step in promoting technological excellence and the Portuguese innovation ecosystem. Representing the Microelectronics Agenda, AIDA CCI will build on contacts made during the previous edition with international R&D entities and tech companies, and forge new strategic partnerships, aiming to accelerate internationalization and attract investment to the sector.
The Microelectronics Agenda stand at ECTC 2025 will demonstrate the know-how, product development capabilities, and collaborative dynamics of the Portuguese companies and research centers involved in this national consortium.
The Microelectronics Agenda benefits from a total eligible budget of €67,493,749.21, of which €30,048,411.91 is funded by the NextGenerationEU initiative. With the project scheduled for completion by June 30, 2025, Portugal aims to assert itself as a global leader in the semiconductor sector, having already executed more than 60% of the budget and made significant progress in product development, sustainability, and workforce training.
