As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Department of Physics of the University of Aveiro, the 6th lecture of the Semiconductor and Technologies Lecture Series will take place on May 13, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Titled “Accelerating Personalized Medicine with Optomics® Technology”, the session will be delivered by Dr. Carlos Gouveia and held at the Prof. Doutor Manuel Fernandes Thomaz Auditorium, at the Department of Physics of the University of Aveiro.
This scientific session will explore the impact of advanced optical technologies on the development of personalized medicine, highlighting the role of integration between photonics, biotechnology, and data science. In a rapidly evolving landscape, these fields are transforming how diseases are diagnosed and treated.
During the lecture, innovative solutions based on Optomics® technology will be presented, with the potential to accelerate early detection and support more precise and effective clinical decision-making.
The event is aimed at students, researchers, and professionals in the fields of physics, engineering, biotechnology, and healthcare, as well as anyone interested in the convergence between semiconductor technologies and biomedical applications.
Participation is free and open to the entire community, with no prior registration required.
The event is organized in partnership with Inova-Ria, CICECO – Aveiro Institute of Materials, i3N Aveiro, and POEMS: Portuguese Competence Centre in Semiconductors.
This lecture is part of a broader set of initiatives celebrating 50 years of the Department of Physics, reinforcing its commitment to research, innovation, and scientific knowledge dissemination.
