Synopsys and INESC Microsistemas e Nanotecnologias – Centro de Interface have established a partnership to strengthen their skills in the area of chip design and nanoelectronics in Oeiras.

Both partners in the Microelectronics Agenda, Synopsys Inc, a leading multinational company in the semiconductor design software and IP segment with a strong presence in Portugal, and INESC Microsistemas e Nanotecnologias / Centro de Interface in the area of microtechnologies, sensors and industrial applications, have identified the strategic objective of increasing the attractiveness of semiconductor engineering for young university students or recent graduates.

This partnership will provide INESC Microsistemas e Nanotecnologias with access to local support in the installation and use of the world reference tools for circuit design (CAD) created and used by Synopsys, to accelerate the advanced training of young talent. These skills support the activities in the area of sensors that INESC MN/CTI has developed with various international industrial contracts.

Thus, by bridging the gap between academia and industry, we anticipate being able to attract young graduates to the microelectronics area on a consistent basis, consolidating Portugal’s position in the area of circuit and component design for nanoelectronics, and increasing its competitiveness in this crucial field for Europe.
